Mayat bergelimpangan, tercampak dari bas: Saksi

 IPOH: Seorang pelajar berkata dia melihat mayat bergelimpang di atas jalan raya sejurus selepas bas pesiaran yang membawa pelancong Thailand terbabas di Kilometer 15, Jalan Cameron Highlands-Simpang Pulai menyebabkan 28 terbunuh setakat ini.

“Saya juga nampak ada kanak-kanak terbaring di longkang dipercayai tercampak dari bas,” kata Mohamad Shafwan Mohd Nan, 17, yang mengikuti rombongan sekolahnya dalam perjalanan menuju ke Cameron Highlands.

Mohamad Shafwan berkata ketika sampai di tempat kejadian, beliau nampak beberapa mangsa yang cedera dan berlumuran darah keluar dari bas yang terbalik itu.

Dua puluh tujuh pelancong Thailand dan seorang pemandu bas yang dikenali sebagai Omar Shahidan dari Kangar, Perlis, terbunuh apabila bas pesiaran itu terbalik ke dalam longkang ketika turun dari pusat peranginan itu pada jam 11.40 pagi tadi.

Seramai 22 orang mati di tempat kejadian, empat meninggal dunia dalam perjalanan ke hospital dan dua lagi di Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun di sini.

Mereka yang cedera dibawa dengan ambulans ke hospital manakala mayat dibawa dengan lori polis dan Jabatan Pertahanan Awam.

Setakat ini, polis telah mengesahkan mangsa yang mati adalah 12 lelaki dan 15 wanita manakala identiti seorang lagi belum dikenal pasti.
Wartawan dan jurugambar yang bekejar ke tempat kejadian terpaksa berjalan tiga kilometer ke tempat kejadian kerana laluan itu telah ditutup kepada semua lalu lintas bagi memudahkan kerja menyelamat.

Usaha untuk mendapatkan gambaran sebenar apa yang berlaku semasa kejadian agak sukar kerana semua penumpang lain dan dua lagi rakyat Malaysia iaitu pembantu pemandu dan pemandu pelancong mengalami cedera parah.

Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands, yang mempunyai banyak cerun, dibuka kepada lalu lintas pada 2003 dan menjadi laluan alternatif ke Cameron Highlands selain jalan dari Tapah.

Ia juga digunakan bagi mereka yang mahu pergi Gua Musang melalui Lojing di Kelantan. – BERNAMA
